Privacy policy

Wanderwalks is built to help you clear your head on a walk — not to mine your life. We collect as little as we can, we keep it safe, and we never sell it.

Information we collect

To run the app we collect the basics: your account details (such as your name and email) and your walk activity — steps, distance, duration, your route, and a map thumbnail of each walk.

Voice thoughts

When you record a voice thought, the audio and its transcript are kept on your device. The audio is sent securely to Google to transcribe it into text, and — if you use the Pro AI assistant — your transcripts are sent to Google to answer your questions.

If you're signed in to an account (with Apple, Google, or email), your voice recordings, transcripts, and the location where each thought was recorded are also backed up securely on our servers so they survive device changes. This applies to all accounts, free and Pro, and happens automatically. If you use the app anonymously without an account, your thoughts stay on your device only. You can delete individual backed-up thoughts or your entire account from Settings at any time.

We don't use any of this to advertise to you.

Location and activity data

With your permission, Wanderwalks uses your device's location and motion sensors to draw your route and count your steps and distance. Your route is saved with your walk so you can revisit it, and your route and the locations where you recorded thoughts are sent to Google Maps to render a map thumbnail. You can turn these permissions off at any time in your device settings — the rest of the app still works.

How we use your information

• To provide the walk, transcribe your thoughts, power the AI assistant, and track your stats.
• To keep your streaks and history in sync across your devices.
• To back up your voice thoughts to the cloud so they survive device changes (when you're signed in to an account).
• To improve reliability and fix problems.
• To process subscriptions and provide support.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers that make Wanderwalks work (for example, transcription and AI, maps, analytics, and payments), and only as much as they need. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from Settings at any time, and we'll remove your personal data.

Your choices and rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. To make a request, just get in touch.

Children's privacy

Wanderwalks is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app and update the date above.
